PM Modi Inaugurates Development Projects Worth ₹12,800 Crore in Bihar’s Champaran District

In a significant boost to Bihar’s infrastructure and economic growth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated a slew of development projects worth ₹12,800 crore in the Champaran district. These projects are poised to transform the region, enhance connectivity, and improve the quality of life for its residents.

Key Projects Unveiled

1. Muzaffarpur-Motihari LPG Pipeline:

  • The 109-kilometer-long LPG pipeline, developed by Indian Oil Corporation, will not only provide cleaner cooking fuel to Bihar but also extend its benefits to neighboring Nepal. This strategic project aims to enhance energy accessibility and reduce dependence on traditional fuels.

2. Indian Oil’s LPG Bottling Plant and Storage Terminal at Motihari:

  • This facility serves as a crucial supply point for petroleum products, benefiting not only Bihar but also the eight districts of north Bihar. It will play a pivotal role in ensuring a steady supply of LPG to households and industries.

3. City Gas Distribution Project:

  • The foundation stone was laid for the city gas distribution project in several districts, including East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, and Deoria. This initiative aims to promote the use of natural gas for cooking, transportation, and industrial purposes.

4. Grain-Based Ethanol Projects:

  • The HCPCL Biofuels Ltd facilities at Sugauli and Lauriya will witness the implementation of grain-based ethanol projects. These projects align with the government’s vision of promoting sustainable and eco-friendly energy sources.

5. Highway and Railway Projects:

  • The two-laning of the Piprakothi-Motihari-Raxaul section of NH-28A and the Sheohar-Sitamarhi section of NH-104 will enhance road connectivity.
  • The foundation stone was laid for a six-lane cable bridge over the Ganga, parallel to the Digha-Sonepur rail-cum-road bridge.
  • Railway projects included the doubling of the 62-km line from Bapudham Motihari to Piprahan and the gauge conversion of the Narkatiaganj-Gaunaha section.
  • The Gorakhpur Cantt-Valmiki Nagar rail line will undergo doubling and electrification.
  • The Bettiah railway station will be redeveloped.
